Gamesys acquires Virgin Games
Virgin Games has been acquired by game development company Gamesys for an undisclosed sum. Gamesys has allegedly signed a long-term deal to enhance and develop global real money and social gaming opportunities, under the Virgin brand.
Launched in late 2003 owned by Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group and its portfolio includes casino, poker, slots, bingo and instant win games, on the web and mobile devices.
Gamesys is the company behind some of biggest gaming sites including Jackpotjoy.com, Sun Bingo and Caesars Bingo. The organisation is also responsible for developing its very own social gaming portfolio.
The UK-based online gaming company made the news in recent times, when it announced the launch of a new Facebook app entitled Bingo Friendzy. The App is the first of its kind to launch on the App Centre and allows UK gamers aged 18 or over to play for real cash prizes on the social gaming network.
The partnership between Gamesys and Virgin Games will build an international games business. Virgin will migrate onto its very own platform, and the brand will relaunch in the UK at a later date this quarter.
It is still early days to know what players can expect from the partnership, but at present newly registered Virgin Casino members are eligible for a £100 welcome bonus, when they initially sign up to the site. The current offer is a 100% match bonus, so it will be interesting to see what they decide for the future.
The existing slots and instants feature many popular slot machines, such as Ghostbusters, Star Trek, Against All Odds and Elvis the King. Considering Jackpotjoy’s massive portfolio though, we wouldn’t be surprised if Virgin relaunched with some new games and offers of their own.
We strongly suggest that you keep your eyes open in the coming months and see what the future holds, as a result of this new partnership.
Looks like it’s exciting times ahead, so make sure you watch this space for more information!
